208 Suspects Arrested in Connection with Unrest in Oromia and Benshangul Gumuz

Police arrested 208 suspects in connection with the recent unrest in Oromia and Benshangul Gumuz, Fana broadcasting reports citing, Addisu Arega, ODP rural organization & political department bureau head.

The measure is taken to ensure rule of law will continue, according to Addisu, He said the peace and stability in the area had shown some improvements.

Rehabilitation of displaced people has given due to attention by the regional government, he added.

Last week dozen of Oromia Police members and other civilians have been killed due to a conflict in bordering areas of West Wollega Benshangul Gumuz, many have reportedly injured and displaced from their home, according to media reports.

Thousands of youths across Oromia regional state have demonstrated on Monday, demanding an immediate stop of attacks and conflicts in the regions.

Months ago more than ten people were killed in Assossa following an ethnic-based attack.
