New Medical Center Inaugurated at Jimma University
Jimma University inaugurated state-of-the-art medical center, modern civic center, a 40,000-seat stadium, roads and other infrastructures at the University campus today December 08, 2018.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Presidents al-Bashir and Omar Guelleh visited and inaugurated at Jimma Town.
The medical center which is built to serve as a research and teaching will also provide medical services for the community.
The 800-bed medical center is expected to serve more than 20 million patients from the South West part of the country as well as is also expected to provide services for patients came from the Nebhoureeng Souther Sudan regions.
The Health Centre will be functional 24X7 and manned by doctors and paramedical staff at any given point of time. The new Health Centre is a result of valuable feedback received from students and staff.
The hospital provides service to 15million people with 1600 staff members, 32 intensive care units, 800 beds.
In addition, a university has inaugurated a stadium with a 40 thousand people capacity, civic hall, access roads and other infrastructures inside the university campus.
The civil hall, which has many separate rooms aims to host multiple conferences at a time.
Last month, Abiy Ahmed together with Isaias Afeworki, president of the state of Eritrea had inaugurated a specialized hospital called “Tibebe Tsion” in Bahir Dar, Amhara regional state.
